Over the past number of years, many computational procedures have been developed to obtain optimum stratification boundaries, those that give the minimum variance (for example, Keskinturk & Er (2007), Kozak (2004), Lavallee & Hidiroglou (1988)). In this paper, I examine these methods in terms of efficiency, ease-of-use and success in arriving at the optimum boundaries, and compare them with each other.
